Choosing the Perfect Grill for the Holiday Season
The holiday season is almost upon us, and it is time for a lot of us to get our families together for some great barbecue. If you will be looking through some awesome grills on sale very soon, then you will need to shore up on some tips to ensure that you make the right decision:
Check for your use cases
When you get a basic gas grill, you know that you can pretty much cook a burger and make some hot dogs. However, if you intend to use your grill for things such as steaks and grilling fish, then you will need to check out grills on sale and look out for the temperature ratings.
The general rule of thumb here is that the higher the temperature score, the better the grill will be when it comes to making several foods. If you are thinking of making some roast or ribs, then you will need to get a grill that holds its own in indirect cooking. Essentially, indirect cooking is an awesome way to slow-cook tough or large cuts by putting the meat close to the fire and not over it.
The British thermal units per hour (Btu/hr) is a great unit which shows how much gas a grill will use, as well as the amount of heat that it will be able to create. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a measure of how well a model will be able to sear or even how fast the grill will catch heat. For those, you need to check out how the grill does with preheating.
On burners
You will need to keep in mind that burners are the part of gas grills that get replaced the most. So, while they can last for years, most grills on sale usually have warranties that last between 2 to 10 years. Replacing them is easy, but you need to ensure that the grill that you get is able to meet the requirements.
Don’t bother much about infrared capabilities
Infrared has been rather popular among people looking at grills on sale. However, while the infrared ability is meant to help sear chops or steaks with intense heat, you might not particularly want to look out for the ability. A lot of people are of the belief that infrared heat doesn’t necessarily sear any better than the normal burners that you get, so depending on what you will want to grill to do, you might actually not need to worry about it.
Prioritize stability
When checking out grills on sale, it is important that you put a lot of consideration for the type of construction that the grill has. Generally, it is obvious that a sturdier grill will be much better. So, look at the wheels, the cart, firebox, and lid.
Experience has shown that stainless steel carts which have easy construction and welded joints are stronger than painted steel cards that have just bolts and nuts.
Apart from being able to survive for longer, the truth is that sturdier grills are much safer. Stability is key in preventing any tipping, and you will also need to avoid those grills that have meal edges an corners.
